In 2013, the population of Illinois was made up of 50.9 percent females and 49.1 percent males. A majority of the population was white, making up 77.7 percent of Illinois' total population. The percentage of whites is exactly the same as that of the United States as a whole. The second most represented group in Illinois is Hispanics, representing 16.5 percent of the population in 2013.
