Camels have 34 teeth. Like other mammals, they start out with baby teeth that are eventually replaced with a permanent set of teeth as the camels mature.
Camels have different types of teeth that serve different functions. The molars, located at the back of the mouth, help camels chew up food. Incisors, which are in the front of the camel's mouth, allow the camel to slice and cut into food. Canine teeth, located in between the molars and incisors, help the camel to grip food or other objects. In total, a camel has 12 molars, three in each corner of the mouth. The camel also has eight incisors, three on each side on the bottom and one on each side on the top of the mouth.
