"Ogunquit" is an Abenaki or Natick word translated as "beautiful place by the sea." It is the name of a coastal town located in southern Maine.
Ogunquit is a tranquil vacation town on the Maine coast, featuring popular recreation areas such as a beach, which is 3 1/2 miles long and sandy, as opposed to Maine's typically rocky coastline. It ends at a rocky cliff, which has the Marginal Way, a hiking trail that is about a mile long that runs along the cliff. The town is full of inns, art galleries, restaurants and lounges that make it a quaint resort town.
