The mix between a border collie and golden retriever is called a golden border retriever. These dogs are considered designer hybrids. They are bred to combine the best characteristics of both breeds in one dog.

Golden border retrievers come in a variety of colors ranging from red or tan to black and white. They range in weight from 45 to 75 pounds at maturity and stand up to 24 inches tall. The life expectancy of this mixed breed is between 10 and 15 years. Golden border retrievers are loyal, obedient, protective and get along well with small children and other pets.
