Golden border retriever is the name given to a border collie and golden retriever mix. These dogs can be any combination of black, brown or white. The golden border retriever may have dominant traits from either breed and is smart, friendly, alert and protective.

The golden retriever is the classic family dog. Ranging from 60 to 75 pounds, the golden retriever was originally bred to retrieve ducks and game birds for hunters. Golden retrievers are commonly used as guide dogs.

Border collies are working dogs and require a lot of exercise and mental stimulation. They were originally bred to herd sheep and are fantastic farm dogs.
