What is the molecular weight of KCl?
By Forinfos - 04/03/2025 - 0 comments
The molecular weight of KCl, also known as potassium chloride, is 74.5513 g/mol. It is an ionic compound, with the positive potassium atom being attracted to the negative chloride atom to form white cubic crystals that resemble table salt.
Potassium chloride is stable at room temperature, and its melting and boiling points are well outside normal conditions on planet Earth. Its resistance to heat allowed it to once be used in fire extinguishers. Its molecular stability also makes it a good choice as a fertilizer, as it does not spontaneously break down before it is taken up by plants. It is used as a potassium source in many fertilizers as muriate of potash.
