How much cholesterol is contained in an egg?
By Forinfos - 26/10/2025 - 0 comments
The amount of cholesterol contained in a chicken egg is typically in the range of around 186 milligrams for an average sized egg. The bulk of this cholesterol is in the yolk, constituting 184 milligrams of the total cholesterol. The white of the egg only has around 2 milligrams.
The cholesterol content depends on the size of the egg. Since most chicken eggs are almost the same size, it doesn't vary by much. Not all of this cholesterol is absorbed when eaten. The cholesterol content in an egg is a cause for concern only if eggs are consumed in excessively high amounts.
