Where does the muntjac live?

Muntjac deer live in China, Japan, Lao PDR, Taiwan, Cambodia, Vietnam and southern Great Britain. They prefer heavily wooded areas because they like the shelter provided by tree cover and frequently inhabit tropical climates.

Also called "barking deer," the muntjac are herbivores who often become the subject of predation by big cats, such as lions and leopards, as well as large reptiles like crocodiles. They create their homes close to water sources. The giant muntjac, which is one of 11 species of muntjac, is currently listed as an endangered species. They are the oldest type of deer in the world.
