What is the name for a baby fox?

Baby foxes are called kits. They are born in underground dens during the spring in litters of four to six kits. At birth, each is approximately the size of an American dollar bill and completely helpless.

Born unable to see or hear and without teeth, young foxes are nursed and attended by their mother continually for 2 to 3 weeks. During this time, their sight and hearing develop and their teeth grow enough for them to eat small pieces of meat. By summer, the kits are big enough to explore outside the den and begin learning to become strong hunters.
