What are the normal values for lipase in lab test results?
By Forinfos - 24/01/2026 - 0 comments
Normal lipase test results range between 10 and 140 units per liter for adults 60 and younger and between 18 and 180 units per liter for adults over 60, according to WebMD. The normal ranges may differ slightly between individual labs.
Lipase tests measure the amount of this enzyme in the blood and are used to diagnose diseases of the pancreas, gallbladder and intestines, as WebMD explains. Lipase levels can also be affected by certain medications, high cholesterol, pregnancy and chronic kidney disease. While high lipase levels don't necessarily indicate problems with the pancreas, testing for lipase produces a more accurate diagnosis of pancreatitis than does testing for amylase, a related enzyme.
