How old is Rosa Parks?

Born Feb. 4, 1913, Rosa Parks would be 102 years old if she were alive in 2015. However, Parks died in October 2005 at the age of 92.

The African-American civil rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s largely began with the actions of Parks on Dec. 1, 1955. Parks, a seamstress in Montgomery, Alabama at the time, boarded a bus to return home after work. When the bus became full and Parks refused to give her seat up to a white passenger, city police arrested her. Following Parks' arrest, African-American citizens of Montgomery launched a boycott of the city bus system that lasted 381 days. The issue was eventually settled by a 1956 Supreme Court case that declared segregated public transit unconstitutional.
