What is a PALS Certification?

By Forinfos - 20/11/2025 - 0 comments

Pediatric advanced life support, or PALS, certification can be earned by attending a 14-hour course created by the American Heart Association. The course teaches healthcare providers additional skills and knowledge regarding the emergency treatment of infants and children. Upon completion, participants receive a PALS certificate valid for two years.

The certification course, which is held in a classroom setting, features video presentations and hands-on training exercises that focus on assessment, basic life support, infant and child CPR, respiratory emergencies, team dynamics and treatment algorithms. As of 2014, additional PALS training providers include the PALS Certification Institute and United Medical Education, which offer online training and certification. The cost for a PALS certification course is determined by the individual training provider.
