Can humans catch parvo from dogs?

According to petMD, humans cannot catch parvo from dogs. There are many types of parvoviruses, but they have significant differences. These variations make it impossible for one type of organism to pass the virus on to a distinctly different type of organism.

For example, petMD explains that rodents, chickens, pig, cats and humans are all susceptible to different parvoviruses. They vary in severity. In humans, parvo usually occurs in children. The symptoms are typically mild and include facial and body rashes, low fever and fatigue; however, WebMD indicates that the canine form of parvo is a very serious and sometimes fatal gastrointestinal disease in puppies.
