What do tick eggs look like?

Tick eggs are really tiny and a reddish-brown color. Some ticks lay 2,000 to 18,000 eggs at one time. Other ticks, like soft ticks, lay eggs several times before dying.
Ticks molt after each blood meal, until they reach the adult stage. Once they reach the adult stage, the male consumes its last meal and then mates with a female. After mating, the male tick dies.
A female adult tick attaches herself to a host and feeds for 24 hours before mating. Once the female tick has mated, she lays her eggs in a protected habitat. Upon hatching, the six-legged larva searches for its first meal, and the life cycle continues.
