To remove bleach from carpet, create a cleaning solution, blot it into the carpet, rinse it and absorb the moisture. The process may need to be repeated until the bleach is removed according to Stainmaster Carpet manufacturers.
Step 1: Make a cleaning solution
Use either 1/4 cup of mild dish soap and 1 cup of warm water or 2 tablespoons of white vinegar and 4 cups of warm water to make the solution.
Step 2: Apply the solution
Start around the outside of the spill and apply the solution until reaching the center. Be sure to blot instead of rub. Let the solution sit for at least 5 minutes.
Step 3: Rinse and repeat
Use cold water to rinse the area. If the bleach remains, repeat steps 1 and 2 until it is gone.
Step 4: Absorb moisture
Place a white towel on the spot to remove any remaining moisture. Let it sit overnight with something heavy on top.
