Remove gum from carpet by using either heat from a hair dryer or cold from ice cubes. Cleaning solvents also help to remove the gum from carpet fibers.
To use a hair dryer to remove the gum, turn on the hair dryer, and point it directly at the gum. Continue heating up the gum until it softens. When it is soft, use a plastic bag or cleaning rag to start lifting the gum from the carpet fibers. Go slowly to remove the gum without damaging the carpet. Keep reapplying heat with the hair dryer when the gum starts to harden.
If the gum is difficult to remove while soft, harden it by filling a bag with ice and applying it to the gum. Once it is hardened, use a scraping tool to remove it.
