What is a retroverted uterus?
By Forinfos - 13/07/2025 - 0 comments
A retroverted uterus is a uterus where the top of the uterus is tipped towards the rectum rather than towards the abdominal wall, according to Better Health Channel. Other names for a retroverted uterus include retroflexed uterus, tipped uterus and uterine retrodisplacement.
In most cases, women with a tipped uterus are born with the condition, according to Women's Health. However, a retroverted uterus may result from pregnancy, menopause, or reproductive health problems such as pelvic inflammatory disease or endometriosis.
A retroverted uterus rarely causes symptoms, but it may cause pain or discomfort, according to MedlinePlus. Doctors diagnose a retroverted uterus through a pelvic exam or ultrasound.
