Is rice a carb?
By Forinfos - 02/02/2026 - 0 comments
Rice is a complex carbohydrate, which is a good source of energy for the body. There are 22 grams of carbohydrates in a 1/2-cup serving of cooked white rice, and 21 grams of carbs per 1/2-cup serving of cooked brown rice.
Brown rice has more nutrients than white rice, but roughly the same amount of carbohydrates. Beneficial components of brown rice include fiber, thiamine, niacin and vitamin B6. Both types of rice are rich in magnesium. Potato is another complex carbohydrate, which is also good for the body. Those counting carbs should still have an intake of "good" carbs such as white rice, brown rice and potatoes.
