Has a rookie driver ever won the Daytona 500?

As of 2015, Trevor Bayne is the only NASCAR Cup Series rookie driver to win the Daytona 500. Bayne, who raced to victory in 2011, was also the youngest driver ever to win what is also known as the Great American Race.

The 2011 victory was Bayne's second start in a Cup Series race and his first race at the Daytona 500. Several other drivers count the Daytona 500 as their first Cup Series victory, including such big names as Mario Andretti, Pete Hamilton, Sterling Marlin and Michael Waltrip.
