What are Savana cats?

By Forinfos - 08/12/2025 - 0 comments

The Savannah cat is a breed of cat created by crossing domestic cats with African servals. Although their appearance varies, Savannahs are typically larger and more exotic-looking than domestic cats, and the breed standard requires a spotted coat pattern.

The original Savannah cats were created by breeding a male serval to a female housecat in 1986. These days, most kittens come from two Savannah parents. Some cities and states in the United States have laws against owning Savannah cats as part of a ban on exotic pets. They are completely illegal in some countries, such as Australia, which banned them because of fears that they would kill native wildlife and destroy fragile ecosystems.
