What do seahorses eat?

Seahorses feed on small crustaceans. Some of the favorites for seashores are shrimp and zooplankton, though they will eat nearly any live food.
Unlike other fish, seahorses lack a stomach and have a poor digestion system. Due to these issues, they have to eat constantly to gather nutrients and stay alive. They stay in shallow areas that contain weeds in order to find available prey. Once they locate their prey, they suck it up whole through their snout. Their snout is uniquely designed so that it expands to accommodate large prey. Since seahorses lack teeth, they swallow the prey and disintegrate it as it goes down. These creatures also have excellent eyesight, which allows them to easily locate prey.
