Seaweed powder is a substance derived from ascophyllum nodosum, which is a brown seaweed often referred to as kelp or bladder wrack, according to New Directions Aromatics. The powder is a significant source of vitamins, amino acids, minerals and other nutrients.
New Directions Aromatics explains that seaweed features fatty acids that fight skin inflammation and may well resist skin conditions such as acne and eczema. Seaweed powder is also often used as an effective cleansing and exfoliating agent. These types of skin treatments remove toxins and impurities, replacing them with nutrients. The powder may be applied through face masks, body wraps and scrubs.
