The annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue comes out each February. The magazine typically reaches subscribers and hits the shelves a few days before its mid-month cover date; the exact date varies each year.

The Swimsuit Edition debuted in 1964 as a five-page supplement geared to increase readership during the winter months. Due to its increasing popularity over the years, it became a single-issue magazine in 1997 and has since become the best-selling release in the Time Inc. network. According to SI Editor Terry McConnell, the publication accounts for about 7 percent of Sports Illustrated's annual revenue, and more than 1 million issues are sold on newsstands each year.
