The first ever Lambeau Leap was performed by former Green Bay Packers' safety LeRoy Butler on Dec. 26, 1993. Butler jumped into the stands after returning a fumble for a touchdown. Butler caused the fumble, which was recovered by Reggie White, who then handed the ball to Butler.
LeRoy Butler wrote about the first Lambeau Leap in his autobiography, explaining that the fans knew he would leap into the stands because he had pointed to them before doing so. He says that once he jumped, fans grabbed onto him and pulled him up into the stands, although he was only there for a few brief seconds before returning to the playing field.
