Hawaii is the only state in the United States that grows coffee beans, according to the Gaurdian Liberty Voice. The year Kona coffee was first planted in Hawaii was 1829.

The North and South Kona Districts represent almost half of the 7,600 acres used for growing coffee in Hawaii, with the remaining acreage mostly in Kauai. The Kona region stretches along the western coast of the island of Hawaii. It is illegal to use pesticides in growing Kona coffee.There are approximately 680 farms in the Kona regions, where some of the coffee trees are over 100 years old.

Several U.S. territories also grow coffee beans.
