Where do tarsiers live?

Tarsiers are primarily found in the rain forests of southeast Asian islands like Sulawesi, Pulau Peleng and Pulau Selajar. Some live in evergreen forests at sea level, while others are up in the mountains.

The bodies of tarsiers are quite small, ranging from about 4 to 5 1/2 inches. However, the tails of these primates are twice the size of their bodies. The animals move in tremendous leaps, covering a distance 40 times the length of their bodies in a single jump. For their size, tarsiers have huge eyes that give them outstanding night vision. Due to their large size, the eyes do not move. However, a tarsier maintains a good field of vision by swiveling its head up to 180 degrees in either direction.
