What type of Whirlpool dryer is the most energy efficient?

As of February 2015, Whirlpool estimates that its WED99HED HybridCare Heat Pump Duet Dryer is the most energy-efficient Whirlpool model sold in the United States. This estimate is based on annual energy use.

The WED99HED is ENERGY STAR certified and won the Environmental Protection Agency's Emerging Technology Award in 2014. The dryer reduces energy consumption by refrigerating and re-using the hot, moist air generated by the dry cycle that is usually vented externally. Whirlpool estimates that it saves 40 percent in energy costs as compared to standard dryers. Users who don't mind a longer dry cycle can switch the dryer to an optional "eco mode" that prioritizes optimizing energy.
