As of 2015, the next presidential election in the United States will be on November 8, 2016. Elections for this office are held in the month of November every 4 years, which is the length of one term in office.
The 22nd Amendment to U.S. Constitution states that a president may not serve more than two terms in office.
The Republican Party and the Democratic Party each nominate a candidate, and in many elections, candidates from an Independent Party are also on the ballot. Citizens who are at least 18 years old and do not have felony records are eligible to vote.
