Several Van Kampen Funds were established across the several decades of the company's existence and multiple mergers. Van Kampen's first mutual fund, the Van Kampen Merritt U.S. Government Fund, was introduced in 1984. Van Kampen Growth and Income Fund, an equity fund, was established in 1946.
Robert Van Kampen established his firm in 1974, eventually merging with American Capital Corporation, a company that evolved from a firm established in 1927. After the Invesco purchase of Van Kampen Investments Inc. from Morgan Stanley in 2010, the funds retained after the merger were renamed the Invesco Van Kampen Funds. Product offerings include mutual funds, closed-end funds and other investment products.
