Because of how Vitamin D is absorbed by the human body, it does not matter how you take it. Supplements may be taken with food, water or milk or on an empty stomach, explains the Vitamin D Council.
According to the Vitamin D Council, Vitamin D absorption is only minutely effected by how the dosage is administered. The vitamin is drawn into the body through the lower part of the small intestine, and the absorption rate and amount are not significantly changed whether it is ingested with oil, whole milk or skim milk. Vitamin D is used to treat many conditions, such as osteoporosis, high blood pressure, tooth and gum disease, and psoriasis, notes WebMD.
