Is vitamin E good for acne?

According to The Acne Zone, vitamin E helps fight acne by working as an antioxidant to protect cells from free radical oxygen atoms, preventing damage to cell membranes and regulating retinol levels. Vitamin E is available as a dietary supplement or topical cream or serum.
While vitamin E helps the skin recover from troublesome acne, WebMD states that using it to treat scars can interfere with the body's natural healing process. A study from the University of Miami states that vitamin E has no effect on reducing the appearance of acne scars on 90 percent of people who try it and causes 33 percent of people to develop contact dermatitis when it is directly applied to the skin.
