Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin that plays an important role in protecting heart health and preventing numerous types of cancer, according to WebMD. Vitamin E is also used to treat a number of diseases of the brain and nervous system, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and epilepsy.
In women, vitamin E is used to prevent complications in late pregnancy caused by high blood pressure and to treat premenstrual syndrome, breast cysts and menopausal symptoms, according to WebMD. Vitamin E is effective in keeping the skin healthy as well as improving endurance, increasing muscle strength, preventing allergies and reducing damage to muscles caused by exercise.
