Standard operating procedure differs depending on where front desk staff are working and what business depends on them, but some tenets hold true in general. These tenets are opening and closing, scheduling and general interaction with both other employees and with patrons.
Front desk staff must know how to open a business and how to close it once the business day ends. Any document written to direct their actions must show them how to handle keys and other security systems.
Front desk staff must be trained to keep accurate and flexible schedules. This includes logging appointments, making phone calls to confirm and cancel and many other tasks.
