"The Cat Who Smelled Smoke" was written by American writer Lilian Jackson Braun. Braun was known for "The Cat Who" mystery novels, which include 29 published books and one unpublished book.
"The Cat Who Smelled Smoke" is the 13th and final book in "The Cat Who" series. It was set for release in 2008, then postponed by the publisher and eventually canceled in 2011 after the author died. As of 2015, it has not been published. The first book "The Cat Who Could Read Backwards" came out in 1966, and the last published book "The Cat Who Had 60 Whiskers" was released in 2007. "The Cat Who" novels follow a reporter named Jim Qwilleran and his two Siamese cats, Kao K'o-Kung and Yum-Yum.
