"A Gun for Sale" was written by the English author Graham Greene. The novel was first published in 1936 as "This Gun for Hire" in the United States and as "A Gun for Sale" in the United Kingdom.
The book's plot revolves around a political assassination that sets off a manhunt throughout Europe. Political and international themes are common in Greene's works, including "The Quiet American," "The Heart of the Matter" and "The Power and the Glory." Greene also included many aspects of Catholic theology and moral reflection in his writings. He was born in 1904 and died in 1991.
