Who wrote the Kate Shugak series?

Dane Stabenow wrote the Kate Shugak series of novels about an Aleut who lives on a large homestead in the Alaskan wilderness. The novels also feature Kate's half-wolf, half-husky dog named Mutt and a cast of characters including miners, trappers, hunters, bush pilots and fishermen.
Stabenow is a native of Anchorage, Alaska. She was born on March 27, 1952 and is the author of many science fiction, mystery and thriller/suspense novels including "Blindfold Game" and "Prepared for Rage." The first book in the Kate Shugak Series, "A Cold Day for Murder," won the Edgar Award for Best Paperback Original in 1993.
