Baby wolves are called pups. Typically, a litter has four to six pups, which are called litter mates. Wolves live in family groups called packs, usually consisting of a male and female parent and their pups.
The wolf gestation period is about 63 days. Wolf pups weigh just 1 pound when they are born, but they grow quickly. They do not open their eyes until 10 to 14 days after birth.
At 2 weeks, wolf pups start to waddle, and by the third week they might start to venture out of the den. Three weeks is also when they start eating regurgitated meat provided by their parents. Until then they survive on milk from their mother.
