Astilbe can be grown in containers. This flowering plant is hardy in USDA zones 4 through 8. It prefers full sun to partial shade for the best growing conditions.
Astilbe is also known as false spiraea, false goat's beard and meadowsweet. The plume-like flowers of this plant come in white, pink and red. Leaves are basal and are compound in form. These particular plants are generally pest free and easy to grow. The blooms can occur from mid-spring to late summer depending on the variety of plant chosen. The plants range in size from 1 to 4 feet in height and 1 to 3 feet in width.
