What is the capital of Serbia?

The capital city of Serbia is Belgrade. The city was also the capital of Yugoslavia between the years of 1918 and 2006, when the country officially dissolved.

More than 1.2 million people live in Belgrade, making it Serbia's largest city. It is one of four capital cities to be located on the Danube River, the other three being Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest.

Belgrade can trace its history back more than 2,300 years, and over the centuries it has been ruled by forces including the Romans, the Byzantines, the Ottomans and the Serbs. The current Serbian National Assembly is located on Nikola Pasic square in downtown Belgrade.
