How do you clean diamonds?

Clean a diamond by soaking it in an ammonia-based cleaner overnight. Gently scrub away dirt and debris with a soft-bristle toothbrush, and blot it dry with a soft cloth. Repeat up to two times per week to sustain its brilliance.
- Prepare the cleaning solution
Gather an ammonia-based cleaning product, such as a window cleaner. Pour enough of the solution to fully submerge the diamond. Alternatively, combine equal parts of a mild liquid detergent with warm water.
- Soak the diamond
Place the diamond in the cleaning solution. Allow the diamond to rest for at least 12 hours or overnight.
- Scrub the diamond
After the diamond has soaked in the solution, scrub away dirt and debris with a clean, soft-bristle toothbrush. Gently stroke the diamond with the brush. Pay attention to parts of the diamond that come in contact with skin, as this is where the bulk of oil and debris collects.
- Rinse the diamond
Rinse the diamond under a slow stream of warm tap water.
- Dry with a soft cloth
Carefully dry the diamond by blotting it with a soft cloth. Make sure the cloth is free from lint and other debris.
- Repeat each week
To prevent permanent dulling, clean the diamond every week or immediately after the diamond becomes dirty.
