Mount Everest is located in Asia. It is situated on the border between Tibet and Nepal and is part of the Himalayas. Mount Everest sits on a Tibetan plateau referred to as Qing Zang Gaoyuan.
The Himalayas are the tallest mountain range in the world and are found across the countries of China, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bhutan and Afghanistan. The peak of Mount Everest is 29,035 feet tall, making this mountain the tallest in the world above sea level. Mauna Kea is located in Hawaii and is over 33,000 feet high, but much of Mauna Kea is below sea level.
