As of 2015, the Current Procedural Terminology code for the influenza vaccine for ages 18 to 64 is 90654, according to Priority Health. The codes for the pediatric vaccine are 90655 and 90656, notes the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Codes for administration of the vaccine include 90460 and 90461, followed by 90471, 90472, 90473 and 90474, says Priority Health. Codes for the influenza vaccine vary by the age of the patient and by the type of vaccine administered. Types of vaccines include live-virus vaccines, nasal mist vaccines, intramuscular shots and split virus vaccines. CPT codes help health insurance companies bill Medicare and Medicaid properly using uniform codes for common services.
