Preliminary figures as of April 9, 2014 indicate an acceptance rate of 18.23 percent for all freshman applicants for UCLA. For California resident applicants, the preliminary acceptance rate was 16.53 percent and 27.08 percent for out-of-state resident applicants. International applicants were accepted at a rate of 17.17 percent.

A total of 15,778 potential students were accepted into the freshman class for the fall quarter of 2014. This included 9,143 California residents, 4,110 out-of-state residents and 2,525 international residents. When choosing who to admit, UCLA considers factors such as grade point average, standardized test scores, strength of the high school program taken and the personal statement among others.
