Whose face is on the half dollar coin?

President John F. Kennedy's face is on the front of the half-dollar coin. His face was first put on the half-dollar coin in 1964. The reverse of the coin features the eagle from the Presidential Seal.

Benjamin Franklin was on the half-dollar coin starting in 1948, and that coin featured the Liberty Bell on its reverse side. Independence Hall in Philadelphia was shown on the reverse of the coin for the bicentennial years of 1975 and 1976. Kennedy half dollars continue to be minted and released each year but are sold as collector's items instead of being put into circulation.
