Are foxes cats or dogs?

Foxes belong to the dog or Canidae family. Foxes are slightly smaller than a medium-size domestic dog, and there are 37 species of foxes in the world.

Foxes are omnivores, which means they enjoy a wide variety of foods. They eat things like snakes, rabbits, fruit, fish and eggs and bury what they can't eat under dirt, leaves or snow.

Foxes mate during the winter months, and a litter can consist of two to 12 pups. The average lifespan for a fox is only from between 2 and 4 years, and they are often killed due to hunting, road accidents or disease.

Male foxes are called dogs or raynaud, and females are referred to as vixens. Baby foxes are called pups, kits or cubs.
