Where do frogs live?

Frogs live on every continent except Antarctica. Frogs are typically found in warm climates because they are cold-blooded amphibians, although there are six species of frogs that live in climates with freezing temperatures. Frogs that live in climates with freezing temperatures belong to the families Hylidae and Ranidae.

The wood frog is one species of frog that has adapted to survive in cold climates. It is the only species of frog found in the Arctic Circle, although this species is also found in Canada and Alaska and as far south as Georgia. During the winter, the frog's breathing and heartbeat stop, and up to 45 percent of its body freezes.
