Areas along the Blue Ridge Parkway are among the best to see fall foliage near Asheville, North Carolina. Higher-elevation areas, such as Mount Mitchell and Grandfather Mountain, are more colorful during the earlier part of the season, while lower-elevation spots, such as Whiteside Mountain, are better later on.
There are some areas inside the Asheville city limits that also offer fall foliage viewing, including the North Carolina Arboretum and Biltmore Estate. A number of tour companies in Asheville offer chartered trips to some common fall foliage viewing locations. Guests may choose to take the tour by bus, on motorcycles or on foot, hiking through one of the outdoor viewing locations.
