Where is the Orange River located?

The Orange River, the longest in the country of South Africa, starts in the Drakensberg Mountains and flows west through the country until it reaches the Atlantic Ocean. The river also forms the boundary that runs between South Africa and Namibia.

The Orange River is 2,208 kilometers, or approximately 1,372 miles long. Forty-eight percent of the country's land area drains into the river. While the Orange River doesn’t pass through more than one city, it is still a large part of the economy. It provides irrigation for farms along with hydroelectric power for the country. The largest dam in South Africa, the Gariep Dam, is found along this waterway as well.
