Where do golden eagles live?

Golden eagles live in Eurasia, northern Africa and North America. They are found around mountains, canyons, riverside cliffs and bluffs. Golden eagles are territorial and can have a territory of up to 60 square miles.

Golden eagles are dark brown with lighter brown plumage on their heads and necks. They can dive upon their prey at speeds surpassing 150 miles per hour. Golden eagles are carnivores and eat rabbits, marmots, ground squirrels, carrion, reptiles, birds, fish and insects. Golden eagles live up to 30 years in the wild. They reach 33 to 38 inches in size and weigh 6 to 15 pounds. Females lay up to four eggs, and both parents help incubate. Some golden eagles migrate, while others do not.
