Where do bald eagles live?

Bald eagles live in North America and Alaska. The range of the bald eagle stretches from the border of Mexico, across the United States, into Canada and Alaska. In fact, bald eagles are very populous in Alaska.

Bald eagles live near large bodies of water because they hunt fish. It's common to see them flying around in the summertime over large lakes near forests. The eagle uses trees to build nests and rest, so conservation areas are a great place to spot an eagle.

People who live on the east or west coasts of the United States, near the Mississippi River, in Alaska or near the Rocky Mountains can spot eagles year-round. The rest of the country will only see an eagle during the migratory season.
